Well Worth Reading - Implementation
To use Well Worth Reading materials in the way that was intended, you need to use a word processor with "Click on a Word to Speak", facility. The most commonly used software in UK education are Textease and Clicker. Thus, these materials have been created in Textease format. They are also available, in some cases, as MS Word files. The reason for this is that text to speech has now been implemented in MS Word using the WordTalk template which is freely available from; www.wordtalk.org.uk. This is a remarkable piece of work by Rod MacCauley of Aberdeen City.
This is not ideal, but it will make Wordtalk available to people who do not have textease available to them. If you do use WordTalk, remember to use the "S : Speak Sentence" facilty, not the continuous speech facility.
